Eduardo Paolozzi

Bunk: Evadne in Green Dimensions,
1952 – 1972.
Screenprint, 30 × 21 cm

The Dean Gallery in Edinburgh has mounted a comprehensive retrospective, “Paolozzi at 80”, celebrating the innovative, surrealist creations — whether on paper, sculpture, film, or writing — of this “Father of Pop Art”. Even though it is housed in no fewer than six galleries, only a small selection of Paolozzi’s prolific output is on display. The exhibition clearly demonstrates what a foundation and starting point Paolozzi has created for much of post-war and contemporary art, and how many influences he has created for younger artists. There is no doubt that this child of Scotland is a towering figure in world art.
